We have been learning.....

Writing - We have continued with Beegu by Alexis Deacon. We began the week trying to decipher the aliens' language, and made a Beegu dictionary. We then tried to imagine what sights and sounds Beegu would have experienced being in an unfamiliar city and recorded these in sentences using ing words . At the end of the week we decided that as Beegu was lonely he needed some new friends! We painted our own aliens and wrote a description of them. We then wrote a profile of our alien, including information on what they eat, how they move and what they like to do.

Reading - This week we have introduced Collins ebooks to our daily reading sessions. Everyone has had the opportunity to listen and read along to our guided reading books on their chromebook. Please have a look at home if you haven't yet had the chance.

Maths - Splash! Capacity and volume was our Maths focus this week. We have enjoyed measuring different containers' capacity using a cup as a unit. We then compared two or more containers and used the language holds more than and holds less than to discuss their capacity. We looked at different large containers and investigated how many small containers it would take to make each container a quarter and a half full.

Science-This week we continued our new topic on seasonal change. We looked at the weather in each season and what clothes would be suitable to wear in each season and why.

PSHE-. We continued our new topic 'Changing Me’. We looked at the human life cycle and how we have changed since a baby.

RE- We continued our unit on ‘What is important to Muslim Families?’ and learnt about the rituals that happen before anyone can touch The Qur’an.

DT- This week we looked at levers and made our own spacemen, moving around space on a lever.

Computing and Geography This week we identified human and physical features of the world around us. We first focused on recapping the features of Hever Castle and then categorised them into human and physical features. The moat was a tricky one to decide on !

Outdoor PE focus for the term We have begun to practice our Sports day races. Thai week we focused on a bean bag relay and foam javelin throwing. We had some keen athletes among us !
