Beverley Smith

Director of Finance

Beverley is the Business Director of Finance of LEO Academy Trust. Previously she was Finance Bursar at Royal Russell School for 7 years, before which she trained as a Chartered Accountant with Deloittes and went on to work with BP and Lloyds Bank. Beverley is part of the central team working closely with each school team, as well the central leadership team, supporting them in financial monitoring, planning, procuring and ensuring LEO gets the best value for money. She believes finance is a service to many ‘customers’ including the senior executive team, staff, parents, pupils and suppliers and is eager to support LEO in its journey as a Multi-Academy Trust.

Kristen Hughes

Director of HR

Kristen is the Trust's Director of HR, with over 14 years of experience in the education sector, including 7 years as the School Business Manager at Brookfield Primary Academy. Kristen is a highly skilled and experienced HR professional with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing HR strategies, managing employee relations, and providing exceptional advice and management.


In her current role, Kristen works closely with schools to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the Trust's overall goals and objectives. She also provides advice and support to school leaders on a range of HR issues. Kristen is a highly respected member of LEO and is known for her expertise in HR and her commitment to supporting people. She is a valuable asset to the Trust and plays a vital role in ensuring that the organisation has a talented and engaged workforce.

Deirdre Love

Director of Estates

and Services

Deirdre is the Director of Estates and Services for the Leo Academy Trust. Deirdre is an experienced School Business Manager (SBM) with over 10 years experience within Local Authority and Multi Academy Trusts managing single and multi-site schools. Deirdre has a strong track record of delivering efficiencies, while also ensuring that the school's resources are used effectively to support the needs of pupils and staff. Deirdre believes that working closely with school leaders will ensure that all schools within the trust have the resources and facilities they need to provide the best possible education for their pupils

Diane Rowsome

Director of Governance

and Compliance

Diane is the Director of Governance & Compliance at the LEO Academy Trust. Previously the Business Manager at Manor Park Primary Academy, she's adept at collaborating with leadership teams to navigate complex challenges and implement effective solutions. She supports the COO with the strategic development and operational implementation of governance, compliance, pupil admissions including appeals, complaints, GDPR, facilities management, health and safety and risk management. Diane is committed to ensuring that all schools within the Trust operate with the highest standards of governance and compliance, ultimately contributing to a positive learning environment for all pupils.
