Phillip Hedger

Chief Executive Officer

Phillip has been the CEO of the LEO Academy Trust since its formation in June 2015, having also held the role of Executive Headteacher at Cheam Common Junior Academy. Prior to that, he was Headteacher at Cheam Park Farm Junior Academy for six years. Having begun his career in education as a teaching assistant at Avenue Primary School in Belmont in 2001, Phillip remained at the school until 2010, covering a variety of roles from class teacher to deputy headteacher. He is a senior partner in the national school improvement network, Challenge Partners, a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Educators in the City of London, a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a member of the Teaching & Learning Group at LGfL. Phillip specialises in school improvement, PedTech and assistive technology. Outside of education, Phillip is Chair of Trustees for the Sutton United Foundation.

Shan Moylan

Chief Operations Officer

Shan is the Chief Operations Officer at LEO Academy Trust and has over 25 years experience  working in schools (EY, KS1/2). She leads the Trust’s centralised professional services team with the main aim of providing wider opportunities and exceptional learning for every pupil. Shan’s expertise and experience extends beyond the Trust through her work supporting schools and MAT’s with their business functions and her work as a School Resource Management Advisor. 

Alison Day

Executive Director

Alison Day is an Executive Director at LEO Academy Trust, a school improvement partner and professional coach. She is passionate about school improvement and growing great teams of people. She has worked in education for over 35 years. Having served as a teacher, school leader and a headteacher for 20 years, she is committed to making a difference in the lives of children. In her current role, Alison works with schools new to the trust to help them improve their teaching and learning, raise standards, and achieve their goals. She also provides professional development and coaching to school leaders. Alison is a strong believer in the power of education to change lives, and she works with schools outside the trust to develop knowledge and expertise in school leadership

Catherine Lester

Executive Director

Catherine is an Executive Director at LEO Academy Trust, bringing extensive educational leadership experience to her work. As former Headteacher of Cheam Fields Primary Academy, she excels in curriculum design, teaching and learning strategies, and leadership development. Catherine is a sought-after school improvement partner, professional coach and mentor empowering leaders at all levels. She is a consultant with WalkThrus and is also a Lead Reviewer for Challenge Partners, sharing her expertise for positive educational impact.

Danielle Scrase

Executive Director

Championing inclusive education across LEO Academy Trust, Danielle Scrase, a Level 4-certified coach, steers the strategic vision for inclusion and early years. Prior to her current role, Danielle's transformative leadership saw Manor Park Primary rise from "Serious weakness" to "Outstanding." Now, she leverages her expertise through the DFE Behaviour Hub, empowering leadership teams nationwide to cultivate positive behaviour and embrace inclusive practices for children with complex SEND needs. Putting the child at the heart of every decision, Danielle ensures that all LEO children are included and have the opportunity to flourish through a holistic approach to the curriculum, focusing on the importance of laying the foundations in Early Years to develop confident and happy children.
