The past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy and exciting for Year 6, filled with ambitious writing projects, important transition talks, and enthusiastic rehearsals!
In English, our young writers have truly embraced the art of persuasion. They've been crafting compelling letters to the legendary explorer Ernest Shackleton, aiming to convince him to allow them to join his crew aboard the Endurance. This challenging task has seen them develop sophisticated persuasive techniques, using strong arguments and emotive language to make their case. Following this, their imaginations soared as they delved into newspaper reporting, inspired by the fantastic book Tuesday where frogs mysteriously invaded a local town! They've been honing their journalistic skills, focusing on factual reporting with engaging headlines and captivating details.
As their time in primary school draws to a close, our Year 6 pupils also received an invaluable visit from Sutton Schools Work. They delivered an informative and reassuring talk about the transition to high school. This session provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to ask questions, voice any concerns, and gain a clearer understanding of what to expect in the next exciting chapter of their educational journey. It's vital that they feel prepared and confident for this big step, and these sessions are incredibly helpful.
Outside of their academic pursuits, the children are absolutely loving rehearsals for The Jungle Book! Their dedication and enthusiasm for bringing this classic story to life on stage are truly wonderful to witness. The school halls are filled with songs and laughter as they perfect their lines and choreography. They are all working incredibly hard, and we know they cannot wait to share their fantastic performance with you all very soon. Get ready for a spectacular show!
