YEAR 2
YEAR 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
We've had another week marvellous fortnight of learning and creativity in Year 2!
Inspired by the hilarious antics of "George's Marvellous Medicine," we've been busy writing diary entries from the perspective of Grandma after she was given the medicine! We focused on making our entries incredibly vivid by using adverbs of manner to describe how things happened – words like "fiercely," "gleefully," and "grumpily" really brought our stories to life.
This week in Maths, we've been recapping grams (g) and kilograms (kg), ensuring we're confident with these units of mass. We also revisited place value, strengthening our understanding of tens and ones, and practised representing numbers in different ways, using everything from base ten blocks to number lines.
Our scientific minds were put to the test as we investigated materials that could be used to make a sturdy plant pot. We discussed properties like durability, water resistance, and stability, thinking about what makes a good home for a growing plant.
The grand unveiling! We proudly finished making and decorating our fantastic Ferris wheels this week. The children showed incredible perseverance and creativity in bringing their designs to life.
In History, we delved into the past to learn about William the Conqueror and his impact. We also explored the interesting difference between constitutional and absolute monarchies, understanding how power can be held and exercised in different ways.
We look forward to another fortnight of exciting discoveries!
Sincerely,
The Year 2 Team
