Year Five have settled wonderfully into their new classrooms over the past two weeks, quickly adjusting to new routines and expectations with remarkable sensibility – their teachers are incredibly proud of them! They have been particularly enjoying the brand new furniture, the inviting book areas, and the atmospheric lighting in their new space.
In English, the children have been immersed in the story of 'The Explorer', planning imaginative diary entries from the perspectives of the characters, thinking carefully about their experiences and feelings. Our Maths lessons have been hands-on and engaging as we've enjoyed using protractors to accurately measure and draw angles, confidently using the terms obtuse, acute, and reflex. In RE, the children have been studying Judaism, exploring valuable messages from captivating stories in the Torah such as Jonah and the Whale and Samson and Delilah.
Last Thursday, great fun was had by all during our VE Day celebrations, where the children also took time to think sensitively about the significant sacrifices made by others at that time. As young scientists, Year Five have been investigating forces, comparing concepts like air and water resistance and conducting practical experiments to understand friction. It has been a busy and successful fortnight of learning!
