YEAR 2
YEAR 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
Another week of imaginative learning has blossomed in Year 2!
Writing:
Following our exploration of imperative verbs, this week saw the successful completion of our instruction writing on how to plant a seed. The children crafted clear and concise guides using short, simple command sentences. We have now embarked on a new and heartwarming writing unit inspired by the book "The Night Gardener." We have begun writing letters to the mysterious night gardener, expressing our gratitude for his wonderful work in transforming our town.
Maths:
This week, we've become even more skilled at telling the time, moving on to reading the clock to 5-minute intervals. We have also been working on sequencing events in time, understanding the order in which things happen.
Science:
Exciting news from our science experiment! Our seeds have germinated, and tiny seedlings are now visible! We have been observing their growth and reinforcing our understanding of what plants need to thrive. We are delighted to report back that our findings confirm that plants need water, warmth, and sun to grow.
Geography:
Our geographical focus shifted to the physical features of a coast this week. We explored various landforms such as cliffs, beaches, and bays, and discussed the dynamic nature of coastlines, considering how these features can change over time due to erosion.
Financial Education:
Last week, we used our imaginations to design new coins and notes for the money of the future! The children came up with some incredibly creative and thoughtful designs, considering different values, materials, and even the symbols that might represent our future society.
We look forward to another week of growth and discovery!
Sincerely,
The Year 2 Team
