Dear Parents,
Here's a glimpse into what we've been learning and exploring over the past two weeks.
Writing
Inspired by ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, our children have been busy crafting letters back to the crayons from the perspective of Duncan. They have been using a range of conjunctions to add detail and to express how Duncan feels in a sophisticated way. We have seen some truly imaginative letters. The children have also been focusing on the structure of letter writing, including addresses, greetings, and sign-offs. We have also begun reading the story ‘The Day the Crayons Came Home’ and we will use this to write a recount.
Maths
In Maths, we have been consolidating our knowledge of addition and subtraction. The children have been working with two digit numbers to problem solve and reason. It's been wonderful to see their confidence and understanding grow!
Science
Our Science lessons have been buzzing with energy – literally! We've been exploring food chains and how energy is transferred between living things. The children have been creating food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey to help us understand the flow of energy through ecosystems.
Geography
In Geography, we've been debating the pros and cons of living in hot and cold climates. The children have been considering factors like weather, lifestyle, and animals. We've had some lively discussions in class over this topic!
Computing - Mission to the Moon
Our budding computer scientists have embarked on a coding mission to the moon! This activity has not only enhanced their coding skills but also encouraged problem-solving, logical thinking, and teamwork.
