NURSERY
NURSERY
What an exciting fortnight it's been in Nursery! The children have been busy exploring all sorts of new activities and experiences. We've had some very important phone calls this week! The children loved using our play telephones to call up their favourite superheroes for a chat - we heard some wonderful conversations and lots of giggles.
Our budding tech wizards have also been navigating the Chrometabs with confidence, exploring Busythings and having fun matching different shapes. We've been busy construction workers too, designing and building amazing homes for our wooden families.
The children have also been learning some essential life skills, like how to make their very own playdough! We got wonderfully messy and creative, and the results were fantastic (and smelled delicious!).
This week we also went on an underwater adventure, learning all about the ocean and the creatures that live there. We even did our bit to help the environment by using tweezers to carefully remove rubbish from the sea. It was a great way to learn about caring for our planet while developing those fine motor skills.
We look forward to more fun and learning next week!
RECEPTION
The past two weeks in Reception have been a whirlwind of learning and fun! The children have settled in beautifully and are eager to explore every new activity. We have been busy diving into the world of phonics, practising our letter sounds and blending them together to make simple words
In maths, we have been busy bees, strengthening our subitising skills – quickly recognising quantities without counting – and delving into the fascinating world of number conservation. The children are beginning to grasp the idea that the amount stays the same even if the arrangement changes, which is a big step in their mathematical understanding.
The fun has spilled outdoors too, with our mud kitchen transforming into a bustling Pumpkin Autumn cafe, serving up delicious muddy pumpkin treats! Over in the role play area, our budding palaeontologists have been on dinosaur digs, unearthing fossils and learning all about these prehistoric creatures. It's wonderful to see such enthusiasm and imagination in our young learners!
We look forward to more fun and learning next week!
