YEAR 2
YEAR 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
My goodness, how time has flown! We've come to the end of another half term already. It's been another busy and exciting fortnight in Year 2!
Writing:
This week in Writing, we focused on creating vivid setting descriptions. We used Michael Morpurgo's "Rainbow Bear" as inspiration, exploring how to use similes to paint a picture with our words and bring the settings to life for the reader.
Maths:
We wrapped up our unit on fractions this week, consolidating our understanding of finding fractions of shapes, sets, and numbers. We then set sail into the world of money, starting to learn about different coins and their values.
Science:
We put our scientific hats on and conducted an experiment to test the strength of paper when folded. We discovered that the more times we folded the paper, the stronger it became, learning about the relationship between structure and strength.
Computing:
In Computing, we became programmers! We learned about sequencing commands to get our boats sailing smoothly.
Geography:
We became nature explorers this week in Geography! We investigated different local habitats. We recorded the different plants and animals we observed in each habitat, learning about the biodiversity of our local area.
We hope you all have a restful and enjoyable half-term break!
Sincerely,
The Year 2 Team
