As part of this project, high school students work together, and in collaboration with industry professionals, to build a modular tiny home. The students undertake all aspects of this project, including design, development, and construction. Following the building of the tiny home, students go through the process of selling it, which gives them additional skills in marketing and sales. The sale profit is used to support the following year's class in the same project.
Much more than a building project, the tiny home build helps students discover what the Japanese refer to as “ikigai” -- identifying the intersection between what you are good at, what you enjoy, and what you can contribute to the world. Whether it is engineering, construction, design, sales, or something else entirely, our goal is to help students find this before they graduate so they can make informed and productive post-high school decisions.
