To design a Competency-Based assessment, grading and reporting structure, a system needs to make a series of design decisions. It’s crucial to begin with identifying outcomes. The graphic below shows a linear process of answering decision questions one after the other. However, the process should be more cyclical and each decision should prompt the system to return to previous decisions to adjust and align. In this section of the Playbook, each of these decisions will be discussed in detail with a variety of examples given along with questions to consider.
