As the “Pride of the Southside,” our commitment and focus for our scholars is undergirded in the belief that we are cultivating the next generation of leaders through critical engagement, inquiry, and service.
Scholarship is a commitment to learning and growing on both a personal and educational path that stems from a desire to contribute to the world in a positive way.
Society members at LEARN Hunter Perkins demonstrate their commitment to learning and growing by maintaining a 3.0 GPA for National Elementary Honor Society membership and a 3.5 GPA for National Junior Honor Society membership.
Responsibility is holding oneself to the values of honesty, courtesy, and respect for others.
NEHS society members at LEARN Hunter Perkins demonstrate these values by honoring the core tenets of our campus of being respectful, responsible, and safe. They value all of the society pillars, attend chapter meetings, and engage in chapter service projects.
Service is seeking out and engaging in meaningful service voluntarily. Society members are encouraged to engage in community service activities inside and outside of the campus. NJHS society members are required to perform a minimum of (5) service hours outside of chapter service activities.
Leadership is demonstrated by carrying oneself with dignity and integrity; by taking ownership and responsibility for one’s own actions and participation.
Society members demonstrate leadership by active participation in various school and community activities, showcasing initiative, responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive impact.
Character is valuing diverse cultures and building relationships that reflect love of self but also concern for others.
Society members must meet the behavioral criteria established in our bylaws and honor the core tenets of our campus (respect, responsibility, & safety).
Citizenship is accepting one’s place and role in the community and seeking to understand the concerns and strengths of that community.
A demonstration of citizenship requires the understanding of the importance of civic engagement; a regard for freedom and justice; and respect for democracy. NJHS society members are expected to respect & obey the rules of our campus and the laws of our city, state and country.
