Loran Scholarship APPLICATIONS DUE TUESDAY OCTOBER 15, 2024
Every year, we assess over 5,000 applicants and select up to 36 promising young Canadians as Loran Scholars, based on evidence of strength of character, a deep commitment to service, and intrinsic leadership potential. We provide Loran Scholars with opportunities to explore, develop, and share their talents over four years of undergraduate study. At this time, there are 134 scholars attending 18 different universities across the country. This is now a self-directed scholarship and does not require sponsorship from the school. There is no limit to the number of applicants from a single school.

You will need to request a reference from a teacher, community member, or someone else who is familiar with your activities. The reference may not be a family member or friend. Note: The reference letter must be complete by the application deadline. It can only be completed after you have finished your section of the application. Make sure you give your reference writer ample time to complete their portion of the application before the deadline. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all elements of the application are submitted on time.

Douglas College Entrance Award and Scholarships
If you will be starting Douglas in the Fall 2024 semester (September - December) and are coming from high school or another post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for an Entrance Scholarship or Award. Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program
Award offered to students who have shown exemplary works in volunteering and humanitarian acts. The maximum value of the award is $28,000, dispersed over four (4) years. The BC Excellence scholarship is awarded to 55 well-rounded high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study. Successful recipients are awarded a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care that they can use to be reimbursed for tuition paid after they are attending a post-secondary institution that is designated by the Province of B.C. District Authority Award
The District/Authority Scholarships recognize graduating BC students for excellence in their chosen areas of interest or strength. These scholarships are intended to help students pursue post-secondary education. The Ministry will allocate 5500 awards pro-rated to school districts and independent school authorities based on their September 30th Grade 12 enrolments. The award is a $1250 voucher that can be used toward post-secondary education tuition.

Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarships
Dave Gifford was a BCSS Director from 1988-90, and received the BCSS Honour Award in 1992. He was a teacher and administrator in Vancouver and died in 1992. In his honour, the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship was created.
• Two (2) $1500 scholarships will be awarded to the top male and female from across the province.
BCSS Zone Scholarships
• Two (2) $750 scholarships for the BCSS athletic zones of Kootney, North West, Vancouver Island, South Fraser, Fraser North, North Central, Eastern Valley, and Vancouver Sea-to-Sky.

Molten Scholarship
Molten believes that sports provide a platform to experience the full spectrum of human emotions. These moments shape not just athletes but also everyone who contributes to the world of sports, from players to referees, coaches, volunteers and supporters. Sports are more than a competition, they are a way to inspire growth foster community, and build character. The Molten Scholarship recognizes student-athletes who embody these values and inspire others through their participation and leadership. Six (6) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to three (3) males and three (3) females.
