Nature Nanaimo Award 2025
The award was created to recognize and encourage students whose interests and activities are aligned to the mission of Nature Nanaimo. The recipient of a single award of $500 and a complimentary one year’s membership will be announced at a Nature Nanaimo Meeting. The winner of the award will either have already demonstrated initiative, or is planning a future project, that is consistent with the mission of Nature Nanaimo.

Parksville Quilt House Quilters' Guild Scholarship
Each school year the Guild offers scholarships of $1500.00 to qualified secondary school graduates. The Parksville Quilt House Quilters’ Guild seeks to encourage those interested in quilting and related textile arts. The applicant must be pursuing a degree or diploma in textile arts or sewing related pursuits at an approved post-secondary institution in Canada, or a related degree or diploma in fine arts and graphic design. He/she will have completed a course of study in textiles or fashion design at secondary school OR can demonstrate a strong personal interest in quilting, quilting history, sewing, or textile arts, including fashion or costume design.

Karam Dodd Memorial Award
This award is presented in loving memory of Karam Dodd, a past graduate of NDSS. Karam's generosity inspired all who knew him and this award allows him to continue helping others. This award is intended for a graduating NDSS student who has financial need and has struggled in school (learning disability, dyslexia, ADHD, etc.). Preference will be given to a student who is planning to pursue a career in the trades. Applicants must submit a brief essay or letter about their experience and explain who has helped to make an impact on their learning.

Environmental Sustainability Award
The Environmental Sustainability Award is provided to a graduating student from Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institute in the field of Environmental Studies. The student must have demonstrated a commitment to Environmental Stewardship through participation and/or leadership in a variety of school and/or community activities during their Grade 11 and 12 years. The student must provide a letter describing what they have done to promote environmental sustainability at the local level, what they see as environmental problems and needs for Canada and how they hope to be a part of the solution.

Dave Gifford Memorial & BCSS Zone Scholarship
Scholarship Amounts
Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarships
Dave Gifford was a BCSS Director from 1988-90, and received the BCSS Honour Award in 1992. He was a teacher and administrator in Vancouver and died in 1992. In his honour, the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship was created.
• Two (2) $1500 scholarships will be awarded to the top male and female from across the province.
BCSS Zone Scholarships
• Two (2) $750 scholarships for the BCSS athletic zones of Kootney, North West, Vancouver Island, South Fraser, Fraser North, North Central, Eastern Valley, and Vancouver Sea-to-Sky.

• Be enrolled in and participated in a minimum of one BCSS Sanctioned Sport at a BCSS Member School during their grade 12 year for the Zone scholarship and participated in at least two sanctioned BCSS sports during their grade 12 year to be considered for the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship.
• Be graduating this year and will be entering their first year of full-time studies at an “Accredited Post-Secondary Institution”.
• Have demonstrated exceptional athletic achievement in a BCSS activity and, have a minimum grade percentage of 75%.
• Have demonstrated outstanding service and leadership in school and/or community.
•Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been confirmed under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

BCSS Indigenous Student-Athlete Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide recognition to Indigenous students. BCSS is dedicated to assisting worthy student-athletes in their desire to attend an Accredited Post-Secondary institution. Two $750 scholarships will be awarded to one male and one female.

• Demonstrated leadership and volunteerism within their school community.

BC Dairy Scholarship
BC’s dairy farmers are proud to nourish and support our province’s athletes. We are delighted to sponsor this scholarship in support of young athletes taking the next step in their education. The BC Dairy Scholarship rewards student-athletes who exemplify school spirit, practice a healthy lifestyle, and actively engage with their community. Two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to one male and one female.

• Be enrolled at a BCSS member school.
• Be graduating this year and will be entering their first year of full-time studies at an “Accredited Post-Secondary Institution”.
• Have demonstrated school spirit, a healthy lifestyle, and community involvement, with a minimum of 25 hours in their grade 12 year volunteering in the community.
• Have participated in at least two BCSS recognized activities in their grade 11 and 12 years.

Molten Scholarship
Molten believes that sports provide a platform to experience the full spectrum of human emotions. These moments shape not just athletes but also everyone who contributes to the world of sports, from players to referees, coaches, volunteers and supporters. Sports are more than a competition, they are a way to inspire growth foster community, and build character. The Molten Scholarship recognizes student-athletes who embody these values and inspire others through their participation and leadership. Six (6) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to three (3) males and three (3) females.

• Be enrolled at a BCSS member school.
• Be graduating this year and will be entering their first year of full-time studies at an “Accredited Post-Secondary Institution”.
• Have demonstrated a commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement while showcasing their leadership both on and off the field of play.
• Shown leadership and volunteerism within the schools athletic program by coaching, refereeing, or score-keeping at school games in their grade 11 and 12 years.
• Have participated in at least one of the following BCSS recognized activities: Volleyball, Basketball, or Soccer in their grade 11 and 12 years at a member school.

Jean Lumb Awards
The 28th annual Jean Lumb Awards that will be presented to outstanding students who have excelled in twelve areas: Academics, Arts, Athletics, Community Service, Defense of the Environment, Dignity of Life, Excellence, Innovation, Innovation in Technology, Leadership, Overcoming Obstacles, and Journalism & Communications Award(New). Students must be enrolled full-time in any grade in a high school or secondary school in Canada and of Chinese heritage.

The Wellington Secondary Climate Action Scholarship

CUPE Local 606 Bursary Application 2025
CUPE Local 606 has four bursaries of $1,000.00 to aware in 2025 and these include the Linda McCourt Memorial Bursary. There bursaries are awarded to children and grandchildren of Local 606 active members.
