The DKMS Go-Kart Club provides students with invaluable, hands-on experience in engineering, fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting. Your support helps us provide a safe, fully equipped environment where future trades professionals and engineers can develop essential skills.
We rely on community generosity to cover operational expenses that extend beyond the school's budget. Your contributions are vital for three key areas:
Tooling & Precision Equipment: Funding to acquire and maintain the specialized machinery and tooling required for high-quality project builds (detailed below).
Safety & Consumables: Funding for necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), safety gear, and materials consumed quickly, such as welding wire, grinding discs, cutting wheels, and shop fluids.
Shop Maintenance & Operations: Support to keep our club environment functional, including maintenance costs for large equipment, utilities, and general facility upgrades.
We are actively seeking donations—financial or in-kind—for specialized precision machinery and tooling to elevate the quality of our student projects and training.
Precision Lathe: A reliable lathe is our highest priority, enabling students to perform crucial tasks like custom axle fabrication, bushing creation, and precision machining essential for our go-karts.
Lathe and Milling Machine Tooling: We need specific tooling to operate our precision machinery effectively, including bits, cutters, collets, chucks, and work-holding devices.
Precision Measurement Tools: Essential tools like calibrated micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers that allow students to achieve the tight tolerances required for competition-level engineering.
We offer several easy ways for individuals, families, and local businesses to support the club year-round.
Monetary donations provide the greatest flexibility in meeting immediate club needs, including funding the purchase of high-priority equipment.
Online: Donations by e-transfer are accepted Please connect with Bonnie in the office for specific details.
By Check: Make checks payable to "Dr. Kearney Middle School" and include "Go-Kart Club" in the memo. Please mail to: 10723 - 92 St., Fort St John, BC, V1J 3J4 or drop off with Bonnie in the office.
