These rules govern all activities conducted in the school shop space outside of regular classroom hours and are mandatory for all club members.
Authorized Access Only: Students may only be in the shop space during scheduled Go-Kart Club hours.
No Unsupervised Work: No student is permitted to operate any power tool, welder, or heavy equipment without the direct, visible supervision of the club supervisor.
Mandatory PPE: Safety glasses must be worn by everyone at all times.
Attire: No loose clothing, open-toe shoes, dangling jewelry, or unrestrained long hair is allowed while working with machinery. Sleeves must be rolled up above the elbow.
Machine Guards: All safety guards and shields on stationary machinery (grinders, saws, drills) must be in place and fully functional before use. Never override a safety device.

Tool Maintenance: All specialized tools must be returned to their proper storage locations. Tools must be returned clean, functional at the end of a session.
Cleanup Protocol: All work surfaces must be swept or cleaned immediately after use. All club members must participate in a cleanup before dismissal to ensure the shop is left organized and safe.
No Horseplay: Roughhousing, running, throwing objects, or distracting behaviour is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in immediate dismissal from the club meeting.
Equipment Reporting: Any damaged or dull tool, or malfunctioning piece of equipment, must be reported to the club advisor so it can be safely removed from service.
Welding Zones: Welding is permitted only in designated, shielded booths or areas. Clear all flammable materials from the work zone before beginning.
Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation fan is operating correctly before any welding or significant grinding begins.
Hot Work: All recently welded or cut metal must be allowed to cool in a designated area. Never touch metal directly after hot work.
