We are writing to share an important reminder regarding student safety at school. We have students in our community with significant allergies in some case life threatening. We have known allergies to synthetic red food dye, apples, sesame seeds, oats, eggs, gluten, pineapple and peanuts. As always, ensuring a safe environment for all learners is our top priority.
With this in mind, we kindly ask for your support in reminding your children not to share food of any kind at school, including snacks and candies. We deeply appreciate the generosity and kindness your children show when they offer a peer a treat or snack; however, even well-intended sharing can unintentionally create a safety risk for those with allergies.
By reinforcing this message at home, you help us maintain a safe and inclusive environment where every child can learn and play with confidence.
We are so looking forward to welcoming you to our upcoming Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 17, a celebration of our students’ creativity, collaboration, and hard work. This special event reflects hours of preparation, practice, and joy shared across our classrooms, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.
Tickets are assigned by family group, the youngest member of the family will receive an envelope addressed to the parent/guardian of the child. It will include 2 afternoon tickets and 2 evening tickets. We have only an additional 50 seats for each performance. These will be be avaliable on a first come, first served basis starting at 8am on December 2, 2025 you can email hge@sd23.bc.ca to request up to 2 tickets per family group for either the afternoon or evening concert.
As we prepare for the performance, we kindly ask for your support in two important ways:
Staying for the Entire Performance:
Out of respect for all of our students and staff who have worked so thoughtfully to bring this concert together, we ask that families remain for the full duration of the performance (approximately one hour). Each class has contributed to this shared experience, and your presence throughout helps create a sense of community and celebration for everyone involved.
Tickets and Seating:
Like in years past, tickets (4 per family – 2 tickets for the afternoon performance and 2 tickets for the evening performance) are being used to help us ensure we are meeting fire safety regulations regarding capacity. We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep everyone safe and comfortable during the event.
If you have any questions or concerns about the concert, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Jessica Anjos at jessica.anjos@sd23.bc.ca.
Thank you for your continued support, cooperation, and grace as we come together to celebrate the season and the wonderful efforts of our students. We look forward to seeing you there!

Childminding @ PAC Meetings
A friendly reminder that childminding during PAC meetings is available only for students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Childminding is offered through HGE PAC in the school gym and students are supervised by interested Grade 5 students. If you have a responsible intermediate interested in babysitting please email the PAC at hgeparents@gmail.com. Please know that the grade 4 or 5s who do take on this important role of "babysitters" during these meetings, do so knowing they are caring for younger children and having older middle students attend can make it challenging for them to lead with confidence. While we value connections with middle school students, we ask for your support in keeping childminding limited to children in grades K–5. If you have any questions, please contact the HGE PAC President, Dani Walls by emailing hgeparents@gmail.com. Thank you!
