Districts were held on June 3 at the Apple Bowl! Mrs. David brought a group of grade 4 and 5 students who showcased their great talents!
We did it! We biked, scootered, and walked to school all this week. We had a total of 791 humans move their bodies throughout the week! This was impressive and great way to show our school spirit and sense of community. A big thank you to the West Kelowna Fire Department for their support.
The winner of the pizza party for highest class participation was Mrs. McLaren's class!
The prizes are:
Big Bike Winner - Grayson in grade 4
Skateboard Winner - Lulu in grade 5
Small Bike Winner - Braxlee in Kindergarten
Scooter Winner - Emmanuel in grade 3
On Monday, June 1, we were gifted with a performance from the GMS Grade 9 band along with the GMS choir. This annual event is always such an exciting experience for our school community. Students are introduced to each instrument and have the opportunity to listen to several songs that we jive to! This year, GMS band has a guest performer with Hayden, grade 5 students from HGE, rapping to "You're Welcome" by Moana!
On June 4, we welcomed all our incoming Kindergarteners to our
"Welcome to K and Play" event! We have some proud big siblings who are excited to have their younger sibling join us. We played on the adventure playground, toured the school and enjoyed a popsicle!
Dear Grade 5 Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of the staff at GMS, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your child as you prepare to join our school community next year. We are excited to welcome our future Grade 6 students and look forward to supporting them as they begin this important and exciting new chapter of their educational journey.
We encourage you to take some time to read the attached Grade 5 Welcome Letter, which contains important information about GMS and what families can expect as we prepare for September.
As your child prepares for the exciting transition to middle school, we would like to invite you to a virtual Grade 5 Information Night hosted by GMS.

Childminding @ PAC Meetings
A friendly reminder that childminding during PAC meetings is available only for students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Childminding is offered through HGE PAC in the school gym and students are supervised by interested Grade 5 students. If you have a responsible intermediate interested in babysitting please email the PAC at hgeparents@gmail.com. Please know that the grade 4 or 5s who do take on this important role of "babysitters" during these meetings, do so knowing they are caring for younger children and having older middle students attend can make it challenging for them to lead with confidence. While we value connections with middle school students, we ask for your support in keeping childminding limited to children in grades K–5. If you have any questions, please contact the HGE PAC President, Dani Walls by emailing hgeparents@gmail.com. Thank you!
