We celebrated our grade 5 students at Green Bay Camp! Such an exciting way to end a milestone before the jump into middle school becomes reality! A big thank you to Mrs. David and Mr. Aka for all the hours of planning that went into making this event so successful as well as to our group of parent volunteers! We appreciate you spending the day with us!
All of our kindergarteners went exploring into the forest on a walk together to enjoy the land. The location of our school within our community provides the perfect connection to nature!
On Saturday, May 23 a group of grade 5s along with Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Anjos with the support of our parent volunteer, Ms. Glassford joined 5 other schools at Memorial Arena for a great day of ball hockey! Our grade 5s pushed hard with great enthusiasm, sportsmanship and sweat! Thanks again for all the parents that came out to support our team!
Lost and Found!
With the warmer weather, we've noticed that your children are leaving items outside as they grow hot playing and now our lost and found collection is overflowing. Please stop by if you are missing items!
Ticks are out and about. We have had a number of cases reported to the office. Please make sure to check your child's clothing and hair to make sure there are no ticks.
Doors open at 5:30pm. More information will be sent out to families as the date gets closer.
Moving???
Are you planning on moving over the summer or relocating to a new school for September 2026? Please send an email to hge@sd23.bc.ca to notify the office as we are already building for the 2026-2027 school year.
We are looking for families to host international high school students from around the world.
Next round of placements begins September 2026. Homestay compensation will be $1200/month/student starting in 2026-2027.
Apply now to join our team as a host family for international students experiencing Canada.

The conversation will be with Superintendent Mark Pearmain and feature Dr. Shimi Kang, whose expertise in neuroscience, child and youth mental health, and public policy brings a strong evidence‑based lens to the discussion.

Childminding @ PAC Meetings
A friendly reminder that childminding during PAC meetings is available only for students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Childminding is offered through HGE PAC in the school gym and students are supervised by interested Grade 5 students. If you have a responsible intermediate interested in babysitting please email the PAC at hgeparents@gmail.com. Please know that the grade 4 or 5s who do take on this important role of "babysitters" during these meetings, do so knowing they are caring for younger children and having older middle students attend can make it challenging for them to lead with confidence. While we value connections with middle school students, we ask for your support in keeping childminding limited to children in grades K–5. If you have any questions, please contact the HGE PAC President, Dani Walls by emailing hgeparents@gmail.com. Thank you!
