Over the last 3 years, the focus of my growth plan was transforming math instruction in my class. Inspired by the work of Carol Dweck and Jo Boaler, this has lead me to overhaul everything I do in maths class - from assessment to projects.
Plan included the completion of the following online courses through Stanford Graduate School of Education:
How to Learn Maths for Teachers online course 2017-18
Mathematical Mindsets online course 2018
National Geographic Society - Developing a National Geographic Explorer Mindset - March 2022
Scratch Around the World - Conference (July 22, 2021)
EdTechTeam Canada (spring 2020): Mathematizing Minecraft, MinecraftEDU to Reality, Alberta Grade 6 Social Studies Reimagined with Minecraft EDU
CCSD: Enriching Curriculum using Digital Tools, Student Productions District leadership group, Digital Tools for Formative Assessment
“IF, like those with the growth mindset, you believe you can develop yourself, then you're open to accurate information about your current abilities, even it it's unflattering. What's more, if you're oriented toward learning, as they are, you need accurate information about your current abilities in order to learn effectively”

"Teachers of high-performing online classes, in other words, read the virtual room and collect feedback not just to gauge how well students understand the subject matter but also to identify any obstacles that may be preventing them from being able to fully participate. "
