Out of Province Course Evaluation
Bishop Carroll High School
Student and Parent Information
The following information explains how to request course equivalencies be added to the Alberta Education Transcript for courses completed outside the province of Alberta.
Evaluation procedures:
To have a completed course(s) appear on the Alberta Education transcript, students must bring the Out of Province Transcript to Student Services at Bishop Carroll High School. The counsellor will evaluate these documents in relation to approved Alberta senior high-level courses as seen in the Chart below. For 30-level courses, students will not be required to complete the diploma examination to receive credit for that course. Once evaluated, the high school transcript issued by Alberta Education will show the course has been completed with a mark of “P” (Pass).
Other important considerations:
1) When applying for post-secondary studies, it is the student’s responsibility to have the official transcript for course work completed outside of the Province of Alberta forwarded to the applicable post-secondary institution.
2) Although students may be assigned credit for a specific course, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the completed course will meet the requirements of the program and post-secondary institute where the student wishes to apply.
3) Students are responsible for ensuring that the course meets the requirements of any scholarship for which they plan to apply, including the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship.
4) If the student is eligible for the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship, an official transcript from the province where the additional coursework was completed must be sent directly to Student Aid Alberta to complete the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship application.
