READING
Maple uses Reading Counts and Lexile reading scores to track students' reading levels as required by the state and Common Core Standards. To find out more about this program and the Lexile level of a book, go to www.Lexile.com
The expected 4th and 5th grade reading level ranges are 770-1000. As always, please be sure your child is reading a developmentally appropriate book regardless of his/her Lexile level. High reading levels often have story subjects which are more appropriate for older children. A good book resource from which to choose an appropriate reading book is the Newbery Book Award Winners.
A fourth grade's reading level goal is to be in the proficient range of 740-940.
A fifth grader's reading level goal is in the proficient range of 830-1010.
To read the student language arts book, Treasures, go to https://my.mheducation.com/login and type the letters cv (lowercase) plus the student's identification code for both the user name and password.
