"In a good bookroom you feel in some mysterious way that you are absorbing the wisdom contained in all the books through your skin, without even opening them." ~ Mark Twain

“At one magical instant in your early childhood, the page of a book—that string of confused, alien ciphers—shivered into meaning. Words spoke to you, gave up their secrets; at that moment, whole universes opened. You became, irrevocably, a reader.” ~Alberto Manguel from A History of Reading

About
I received my undergraduate degree from UCLA in Theatre Arts and my teaching credential and Master of Education from California Lutheran University. My master’s thesis focused on Media Literacy and its benefits for elementary school children. I studied acting at The Drama Studio, London at Berkeley and am a 2008 Fellow of the South Coast Writing Project. I became a teacher because I love learning and wanted to pass that passion on to future generations.
Ideally, I believe the education of children “takes a village,” and at its center is the student supported by his/her parents, teachers, and the community at-large.
