A successful student attends and participates in class, has a positive attitude, and tries their best on all assignments. Students will have opportunities to improve their grades throughout each grading cycle through tutorials, re-doing assignments, etc. The highest grade late work can receive is an 80%.
Any productions that are to be aired by a specific deadline must be turned in and ready for disbursement before the air date. We will work to ensure you have all the tools necessary to complete your productions on time.
Six weeks grades will be based on the following percentages:
Showing leadership, teamwork, appreciation for diversity, conflict management, work ethic, and adaptability. This is evaluated throughout the six weeks and students will meet with Ms. Moore during that time to discuss how they're doing with each component.
Missing (M): The teacher has not yet received the assignment from the student and it’s past the due date.* The assignment can still be made up within SEVEN days of the grade input, for a maximum grade of 80.
Zero (0): The student cannot make up this assignment. The assignment may have never been turned in or the student received zero credit for the assignment. This is mainly applied to minor assignments that were to be completed during class.
Absences: When a student is absent from class due to illness, upon return, the student will be allowed one day for each day of absence to make up the assigned work and/or take a quiz/exam.
However- previously scheduled assignments that were due on the day of the absence will be due on the day the student returns to school. Previously scheduled quizzes/exams will be administered on the day the student returns to school. The student is allowed one (1) day for each day of an absence to make up assignments and quizzes/exams scheduled during their absence. One (1) day of make-up time is allowed for each day of absence (Example: 2 days absent - 2 days to make up work; 4 days absent - 4 days to make up work, etc.).
Note: based on the A/B schedule at the high school level, the term “one day” is equivalent to one class period.
Continuous Improvement will be available for students who scored less than a 70 (below basic) on assessments or writing process pieces in the mastery category of the gradebook. Teachers and students will develop an appropriate continuous improvement plan so that students can demonstrate mastery of skills. Per district policy, CI is available to all students who fail a six weeks, BUT MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN ONE WEEK OF NEXT SIX WEEKS.
Students are expected to maintain the highest level of academic honesty. If you cheat, copy work of another student, or plagiarize you will be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct, denied credit for that assignment, and possibly removed from the class.

I will treat you like an adult, which means if you are unable to do your job in class, I will chat with you about any challenges you are facing. After that, I will contact a parent/guardian and have a conversation out of my concern. If there is a need for more intervention, I will visit with your AP. The key is to ask questions and communicate with me and you will achieve success in the class.
