Resume

  • Consider using a resume building resource! Resume.io cost 4.99 a month but gives you a week free trial.

  • Most job applications use a computer program (ATS) to sift through all the resumes collected. Know how those those work! Video

  • You can still build a resume even when you do not have job experience. Check this video to utilize your volunteer information to get that first job.

Cover Letter

  • "A cover letter is a formal letter you send along side your resume." It gives you a chance to introduce yourself and highlight what makes you a great candidate. Check out this guide.

References

Step 1: Ask three people you know to be your references. You should always call or ask in person to see if they are willing to be your reference.

Step 2: Gather their information. You need their full name, email and contact information.

Step 3: Let them know if a job application sends them a reference survey. Sometimes jobs send a short survey to your references instead of calling them.
