Here are items to review at the start of every semester
Check your balance owed - follow this tutorial video.
You may owe a balance for a First Day fee - this is where the cost of your textbook is tied to your course registration.
First-day fees vary by course & section
You must pay the fee by the tuition deadline
Failure to pay by the deadline will result in being dropped from the course
You may have received an auto-generated email after registration reminding you to pay your tuition balance, but tuition is waived for most dual credit courses.
Log into Blackboard - follow this tutorial video.
Your professor will most likely share the syllabus a week before class starts - this will tell you everything you need to know about the course. Make sure you know what to expect in terms of policies, deadlines, turning in assignments, etc. Ask questions if anything is unclear!
Blackboard is tied to your individual courses and will allow you access to your course materials (similar to Google Classroom).
ACC courses are offered in-person, online/asynchronous (ONL/DIL), or online/synchronous (DLS) - read the syllabus for complete course meeting instructions:
In-person - must attend class at RHS or the ACC campus listed in your registration
Online/asynchronous (ONL/DIL) - no class meeting times; all coursework will be completed without face-to-face instruction
Online/synchronous (DLS) - must attend classes during class meeting time via Zoom (or other virtual meeting platform)
Log into Blackboard to check the syllabus for textbook instructions.
Follow these instructions to determine which textbooks you need in advance of the start date for your class - reach out to your professor if you have questions about the requirements.
In Self Service, click on the hyperlink of the course & section number, then scroll down to "Additional Information" - This may include instructions for navigating to online course info, how to complete the mandatory course orientation, immediate deadlines, and professor contact info.

If you have an mLISD device, open the Company Portal link on your desktop, search for "Respondus," double-click on the Austin Community College-Respondus icon and install.
If you can't find Company Portal on your device look for Software Center - this is on previous LISD devices.

Tutorial video:
You may encounter questions about college credit hours when applying to a 4-yr college
College credits are calculated based on the number of hours you are in the class per week.
Most classes you will take as a Dual Credit students will count as 3 college credit hours.
The second digit of ACC's course numbers will indicate the number of credit hours you are earning
View tutorial video: How to find your total ACC hours
In order to calculate the number of college credit hours earned, you would add the hours of all the courses you have completed.
Example:
English 1301 = 3 college credit hours
History 1302 = 3 college credit hours
Spanish 1411 = 4 college credit hours
=10 college credit hours earned
