In High School Art I students will learn to illustrate ideas for artworks from direct observation, experience, and imagination. You will learn the skills to create amazing artworks, the ability to express yourself artistically, and the knowledge needed to appreciate art.
-HS Art I is a full-year course only open to 8th grade students. This course fulfills a high school Fine Art credit.
-This is a high school credit course and students/parents should expect HS level content, pacing, projects, and deadlines. Expect to spend 1+ hour a week on projects/assignments outside of class time in order to meet deadlines.
-This course requires students to purchase some of their own art supplies, the total cost is around $25
-The HS Art I course taught here at CRMS will have a heavy studio focus. The primary goal of this course is to provide a foundational head-start for students who plan to continue taking art courses at the high school level. VHS currently offers two versions of this course- HS Art I & HS Art Studio; the non-studio course is geared more towards beginner art students and Mrs. Blevins suggests waiting to take this at VHS if you've never taken an art course at the middle school level before. Students with no art experience looking to fulfill a HS credit will be accepted only if space allows.
-If students/parents have questions whether HS Art I is a good fit please feel free to contact Mrs. Blevins via email BEFORE the enrollment deadline.
Note About REMIND:
LISD automatically creates Remind accounts for classes. Since the majority of our artwork is going to be created during class, I rarely use this platform to communicate home.
My preferred method of communication is email, followed by phone.
