Enrollment is the process by which you become an ACC dual credit student (steps outlined here). Registration is the process by which enrolled ACC dual credit students register for specific ACC classes each semester through their myACC account.
You need to meet college readiness metrics in English for most ACC courses and in Math for math-centric courses (like Economics). You can meet the dual credit readiness metrics through the SAT or ACT, or by taking the TSI. Students taking ACC courses in the school year may take the TSI for dual credit eligibility once at LHS. We offer the TSI assessment on campus for dual credit eligibility from January to Spring Break. Students taking only summer ACC or needing to test outside of our LHS test dates can test at an ACC campus.
Technically, ACC's deadline is the day before class starts, but we do not recommend waiting this long! Many classes fill up shortly after registration opens. There are priority deadline dates to complete the enrollment steps in order to be ready for registration on the day it opens. You can find those dates here.
ACC adds an AR7 registration hold to student accounts every semester. If you are new to ACC, you must complete the enrollment steps, including meeting with Mrs. Wolske. If you are a returning student, you must complete the ACC plans form in your Dual Credit Google Classroom, AND in the spring, you will need to attend a meeting with Mrs. Wolske to plan out your next year's ACC classes. Once you have completed the required steps, we will work with our ACC high school program liaison to remove the hold.
ACC posts its course offerings by term, content area, and by location at austincc.edu/schedule. Make sure to check our Dual Credit course listing for dual credit-eligible courses.
Interested in taking something off the list? Make an appointment to discuss this with Mrs. Wolske.
Students must have at least 6 RHS courses, 3 a day. If you are taking an in-person ACC course at LHS, you cannot have off periods beyond the days you do not have ACC courses. (e.g. ACC does not meet on Fridays, so Fridays are considered off periods for your ACC class period)
Yes, ACC does offer distance learning classes- both asynchronously (no live classes) and synchronously (with live online classes). Students are most successful with in-person or synchronous online classes.
Students enrolling in only asynchronous distance learning course(s) will be enrolled in an ACC study hall class period to give them the dedicated time and space to complete the work.
If an off-period is desired, that request is independent of the dual credit asynchronous scheduling process & must be approved through the off-period request process.
Asynchronous courses are NOT self-paced. Students are required to meet specific deadlines for assignments, projects, and exams, and they must actively engage with course materials and discussions according to a schedule outlined by the professor.
Students will not be approved to take distance learning during the school year for core courses offered on campus at LHS. Students should contact Mrs. Kendall to explore their choices.
The ACC course SPAN1411 is a prerequisite for SPAN1412 (dual credit equivalent to Spanish 2 & 3). Students wanting to enroll in SPAN1412 must complete the first-semester college Spanish course (SPAN1411) with a grade of C or higher.
There are no dual credit offerings at ACC for these high school courses.
No. ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302 must be taken as prerequisites for ENGL 2322 or ENGL 2328. You may take ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302 in your senior year as your English IV high school credit.
ACC courses are not calculated in your LISD GPA. ACC courses will count toward your ACC GPA and potentially any college/university you may transfer. You are establishing a permanent college transcript with a college GPA when you take ACC dual credit courses.
ACC credits transfer to all in-state public colleges & many out of state and private colleges. You can find more information by going to your prospective college's website for transfer equivalency information.
Follow these instructions.
Tuition is waived for most dual credit classes. If you have a balance due, it is most likely a first-day textbook fee. You will need to pay the balance before the tuition deadline. Failure to pay will result in being dropped from the class.
To check if you have a balance, log into your MyACC account > Registration & Payments > Pay for Classes > view the current term. If your balance is $0, no further action is required.
If you drop a course after the add/drop date, a "W" (for withdrawal) will appear on your ACC transcript. Prior to withdrawing from any ACC course, come see Mrs. Wolske to discuss possible next steps.
If you complete the ACC course, the grade will appear on both your ACC and LHS transcript. Before the ACC withdrawal deadline, we advise you to assess and be certain you are on track to pass your ACC course(s) and if not, ask you to consider withdrawing from the course to protect your academic record. We meet to work with you on a plan for you to get credit for that class. The "W" for withdrawal is recorded on your ACC transcript.
Accommodations approved through high school 504 plans or IEPs are not automatically transferred to Austin Community College or any institution of higher education. You would apply for accommodations through the ACC Student Accessibility Services. More info can be found here.
