AP Capstone™ is a College Board program that develops essential skills for success in college and beyond. Through independent research, teamwork, and effective communication, students become curious, independent thinkers, and collaborative problem solvers, prepared to make logical, evidence-based decisions--skills highly valued by college and employers.
AP Capstone Certificate™: Score a 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research.
AP Capstone Diploma™: Earn the certificate plus scores of 3 or higher on four additional AP exams of your choosing.
1. Can I take AP Seminar without completing the entire AP Capstone Program? Yes. AP Seminar is an excellent introductory AP class that will help you in all of your high school/college classes.
2. Do I need a recommendation to take AP Seminar? While we may seek recommendations for students who are a good fit for the program, any student with an interest in taking AP Seminar is welcome to enroll as early as sophomore year.
3. Can I take AP Capstone if I'm enrolled in ACC dual credit? Yes! Students can participate in AP Capstone alongside dual credit courses. The skills gained in AP Seminar and AP Research--like critical thinking, research, and collaboration--complement other coursework and programs.
4. I've never taken an AP class before. Can I still take AP Capstone? Absolutely! AP Capstone is open to all students, regardless of prior AP experience. AP Seminar, the first course in the program, is designed to help students develop the skills needed for success in any AP course--such as critical thinking, research, and teamwork. It's a great way to start your AP journey!
