There is no final exam for AP Research. The AP score is determined by two components: the academic paper and the oral defense.

- Academic Paper (75%): The final product is an academic paper (4,000 - 5,000 words) showcasing original research or analysis.
- Presentation & Oral Defense (25%): A 10-15 minute presentation of findings to a panel of evaluators, followed by 3-4 questions.

AP Research equips students with essential skills for academic and professional success by guiding them through the process of independent inquiry. Throughout the course, students will develop competencies in the following areas:

Time Management and Independence
By the end of the course, students will have completed an in-depth research project, developed critical academic skills, and gained confidence in their ability to present and defend their ideas—valuable preparation for college and future careers.
