The Wolfcast is Cedar Park High School's award-winning, student-produced broadcast news program, bringing campus news, sports, student life and important community stories to the screen.
From breaking news and in-depth reporting to student features and interviews, the Wolfcast gives students a platform to inform, engage and connect the Cedar Park community through video storytelling.
The Wolfcast operates as a student-run television newsroom, where students take responsibility for every stage of producing a newscast. From pitching stories and conducting interviews to writing scripts, filming, editing and managing live studio production, students work together to bring each show to air.
Students serve as reporters, anchors, producers, directors, camera operators and production crew members, gaining hands-on experience with professional broadcast equipment and industry-standard production practices.
Working under real deadlines, students develop skills in journalism, technical production, teamwork, problem-solving and leadership while learning the importance of accuracy, ethics and responsible reporting.
While the Wolfcast's regular newscasts remain at the heart of the program, students also explore other forms of video storytelling, including sports coverage, special reports, interviews and digital content designed to reach audiences beyond the classroom.
Through these projects, students develop their own creative voices while learning how to adapt stories for different platforms and audiences.
The Wolfcast has earned recognition for its student-produced reporting and broadcast production, reflecting the creativity, dedication and collaborative work of the students behind each show.
Whether you're interested in reporting, anchoring, sports journalism, video editing, directing or working behind the scenes, the Wolfcast offers opportunities to develop your skills and contribute to a student-run television production team.
Being part of the Wolfcast also comes with responsibilities. Students work together to meet production deadlines, fulfill assigned roles and maintain the standards expected of a working newsroom.
Students and families are encouraged to review the Wolfcast Staff Handbook to learn more about program expectations, responsibilities and commitments before requesting the course.
