Assignment 3 (Name Your Prototype)

The making process of my prototype was to make a shelter that could protect people from the harsh weather of mars and have enough storage space to contain people's necessities, So I built Something that can hold everything a people would need to survive and I added a Garage so vehicles.

I feel my prototype aligns with my identity as a explorer because adding room for vehicles which i feel are needed to explore the planet of mars is gonna help me explore mars and the home comes with alot of windows which I can look out of and see a view of where I might be exploring today

My Shelter meets human needs of needs like privacy and personal space because the home can hold all your personal belongings in your shelter

The craftsmanship techniques I used for my prototype were:

Extrusion

Right Angle Fold / gusset

Acute Angle Fold / gusset

Assignment 2 - Prototype Planning Template

  1. My plan for my Project is to make a shelter with 2 pieces one main piece being the main building and the 2nd piece being the connector that will act as a mudroom where you can clean up and get settled down to into you actual shelter/home. The main build will be 9 inches tall and 5 inches wide with a Garage and a Living Quarters, while the 2nd build will be 2 inches tall and 4 inches wide and will connect to the main build.

  2. My research helped me figure out the way I wanted to design my shelter.

The articles idea was a new home on mars also this sentence from the article which says, "These explorers will need shelters to effectively protect them from the harsh Martian environment and provide a safe place to call home." and another quote was, " The “Mars Ice Home” is a large inflatable torus, a shape similar to an inner tube, that is surrounded by a shell of water ice." I also had a couples ideas from my classmates like Gabe and Diego and how they wanted to add glass.

I am still gonna add more stuff to the blue prints and the design as I work on the shelter
