In AP Physics the students are building bridges using a limited amount of material and their own intuitiveness. They use a computer program to test and measure their bridge while they build it using material like wood and glue and nothing else. It's an extremely challenging feat to accomplish and takes a lot of patience and engineering knowledge to be able to complete.

Mr. Dragula's Astronomy class has worked extremely hard for a few weeks on building model airplanes. On May 25th they took them outside to fly on the baseball diamond. There were many successes and failures but they all had a lot of fun!

The Biology class went to the pond for one of their projects. They go out to the pond with all of their equipment to collect tiny little organisms in the pond water and identify those little beings under the microscope. We are so lucky to have a body of water right in front of us to learn more about science.

The photography class is doing a project called stop motion. This is where you put a series of pictures together to make it look as if something is moving. The class is having a total blast working on their projects. Some are using claymations to do their stop motion.

The robotics class has been a place where students can create projects they find and are interested in. Many students have 3D printed things to use for their projects and add electronic components. Students have worked on and created various projects throughout the 2021/2022 school year. Almost all of the students in the class have 3D printed parts for their projects and have put them together and made their projects come to life. Other students have had the opportunity to go to the class if they have WICORs and have been allowed to create projects of their own as well. The students in the class have said that the atmosphere of the class itself is very relaxed and enjoyable, most say it is their favorite class of the day and that they look forward to the class all day.

Summer Break is Coming!
With the spring season starting the last weeks of school are winding down to an end. Students in classes are eager for these last final moments for school and have made chain-links out of colorful paper to countdown. With the end of the year coming up many exciting things are to look forward to. Sports games whether it is softball, baseball or track are in the brew and the final days for the annual “High-Five Day” are all getting organized!

Virtual Art Alive Contest
03.08.22
The Photography class just participated in the Virtual Art Alive Contest through the Albright-Knox Art Museum. This is a free virtual event that anyone is able to enter and submit their entry and to comete to win more than $1,000 cash prizes. There are about 6 judges who judge the entries. Last years winners were asked to join the judges for an Art Alive Celebration at Bidewell Park in Buffalo on June 12th. The students in photography picked famous photos or paintings and used the resources we had around the school or at home to recreate these famous pieces.

As a photography class here at Lyndonville, we have been given the opportunity to participate in the Rural Schools Association of New York State video contest. This contest is open to teachers, classes, clubs, as well as students from member districts who can enter independently or as a small team. From now until February 28th of 2022, two grand prize winners will receive $1,000. Additional awards go to grand prize runner up for $500, first place for $250, and first place runner up for $100. The contest has a theme of “Our school. Our community” to show our rural community and who we are. You can make the video however you want; short videos/pictures put together, one video the whole time with a voice over, or anything else you can think of to show your community. The video can’t be more than three minutes long but can include your school, stores, and community staples. The winners will be announced April 1st of 2022 and will be awarded in person. Winning videos will be shown at RSA NY’s Summer Conference in July of 2022 and displayed online.

Mr. Q's robotics class has been working on a lot of different projects throughout the school year. Most of the students in the class have 3D printed parts to create their projects, eventually all of the parts they have printed will be put together with the electronics needed to make their projects come to life. Each student usually works individually on their creations with help as needed from their teacher. There is really no set assignments in the class, other than their first projects, which were rovers that needed to be programed so they would not run into anything. Each student has the ability to choose what they want to create, the only condition is that it needs to be something that has electronic parts to it, other than that, they can do whatever they want with their projects.

Miss. Kotas and Mrs. Trupo have created a 5th and 6th garde art club to help our young tigers develop thier art skills and give them an opportunity to create something wonderful. The 5th and 6th grade art club is going to be available to those students who are in both chorus and band therefore they do not have an art class in their schedule. The club will be beginning in the middle of March. They will be using sharpies and watercolors for their first project. Miss. Kotas and Mrs. Trupo are excited to give those students an opportunity to create art in their busy day.

Starting just last week, Mr. Wolford's first period construction class has begun to make the floor plans for a shed to be built in the spring and finished by the end of June. This shed isn't just for anyone though, our very own principle, Dr. Slack, is the client for this shed as he is paying for the materials and he also plans to help out when he can. It is a great learning experience for the class while also being a convenient and easy way to get storage for his lawn mower! We hope it all comes together smoothly and ends with an on time delivery.

Recently the grade book for marking period 2 closed. This meaning there is only 2 marking periods left and we are half way through the year! Coming from a senior this is very exciting for me and I know my fellow classmates are also very excited to venture out and start our lives. Half way through the school year also means we are getting closer to warmer weather! This winter has been a long, snowy and cold winter. Although we love having snow days, I am pretty sure almost everybody is ready for warmer weather to appear.

Plan your Future Plinko is a way for Lyndonville to celebrate the seniors and their future. Whether you are accepted to college or going into the military, Mrs. Bow will always announce on the intercom to "Come on Down!" Then whoever is called gets to play Plinko and win a prize including thing like laundry detergent, med-kit, shower supplies, and other things that would beneficial to anyone going to either college or the military. This long running tradition is a staple in our school and it is the perfect way to recognize where people are attending and going in their life.

Band/Chorus Trip to Cleveland Ohio
01/19/22
The students in high school band and chorus will be going on a trip to Cleveland, Ohio May 21 and May 22. The students will be visiting the Rock and Roll hall of fame on Saturday, May 21 with a possible performance. Later that night, the students will be going on a dinner cruise. On Sunday, the students will be spending the day at Cedar Point Amusement park. They will get a lunch voucher and an all-day drink wristband. Music Boosters was very generous and put $100 towards each students trip. The leftover cost for most is $275 unless students have money from past fundraisers. This will be a very exciting trip for Lyndonville's high school band and chorus students!

The students from Studio in Art are starting to show their school spirit as they embark upon a new project. One large poster is being sectioned into 20 9x9 squares and these 13 kids will make 1-2 squares for them to all come together to make a portrait of our school tiger! These students are working on their graphite skills, making the entire tiger out of graphite pencils. They started their project on December 13th and they will finally finish upon return of break. The special part is this portrait will be hung somewhere in the school (location to be determined) for all future students of LCSD to see. We are excited to see how it comes out when it's all put together! See the photos for progress.

The Spanish Club is currently fundraising for supplies and hopefully a trip to Mariachi de Oro. The Club made two different types of festive decorations include the Ojos de Dios, and the Flor de Papel which translates to paper flower. They also have one massive God's eye that they are doing a raffle for.
By Ethan G.
The Ojos de Dios are what we call God's eye. Originally made in by the Huichol (Wet-chol). This native american group made these god eyes to watch over them thinking that these eyes could see more than they could. The god's eyes were popularized by the Spaniards who associated it with Christianity due to the foundation of God's eye being made with a cross.

On December 1st 2021, the Studio Art and Photography Class taught by Miss Kotas went to Albright Knox Northland in Buffalo New York for a field trip, the original location is currently being renovated. There were about 17 different pieces of art in the whole exhibition, all stemming from questions we face today in the sense of systemic forms of oppression, the role in our communities, and the change in technology. Each piece was very unique and there was a story or lesson behind each and every one of the pieces, literally behind it for the Insufficient Memory artwork by Sean Fader. There were six hanging prints on the front of the canvases with corresponding texts on the back of them, all explaining the hate crimes on LGBTQ+ persons in the United States in that location the print shows. The field trip could be an eye opener for some, and for others it could increase the amount of support we have for one another. This exhibition was very cool and should be checked out by everyone who can when you get a chance!

Life Skills Class
12/10/21
The Life Skills Class, taught by Mrs. Dumond, recently learned how to sew pillow cases. With their newfound talent, they decided to make more and donate them to homeless shelters and nursing homes. They made a whopping 51 pillowcases with fabric donated by teachers and their families here at Lyndonville. For Thanksgiving they learned to make pies for their families' Thanksgiving Day Feast.

Cover of the 2021-2022 Yearbook
1.21.22
The photography class has been working very hard on the upcoming yearbook. Each week we are assigned a few of the yearbook pages along with a rubric to follow. We currently have 56 yearbooks sold so far with our goal being 110! We mutually agreed on the yearbook theme to be 'rewind', some students have brought in their grandparents and parents yearbooks for us to get ideas from. We have roughly 65 pages of the yearbook completed with about 35 pages remaining. We hope everyone enjoys the yearbook this year, our class has worked incredibly hard on it!
