Big Anthony has a tendency to be selfish, allow his emotions to rule him, and does not pay attention. This ends in him causing a huge mess and almost losing his life!
The story is about justice and proving there are consequences to our actions. Strega Nona provokes curiosity, anger, thoughtfulness, and a strong sense of justice. The message is clear that our actions do come with consequences. It shows students that being selfish does not pay off, nor listening to your emotions.
The age recommendations are 3 - 5 years old. It is perfect for that age group since the message is very clear and easy to understand.

Her father does not approve but sends the warrior on quest to defeat a rival ruler. Deceit leads Itza to drink a potion and fall into a deep sleep. Popoca never leaves her side even though he cannot awaken her.
This tale is inspired by two volcanoes near Mexico City. The story was passed orally from generation to generation and many versions of it have been written. The artwork and story of this book showcase a Mexican traditional tale that has been around for centuries.
