Last Saturday, the varsity wrestling team traveled to Chesterfield High School to compete in a team tournament against Chesterfield, Myrtle Beach, Wilson, and Cheraw. The Jackets took the wins over all 4 teams and came out the winner of the Ram Rumble Duals.
On Wednesday, they traveled to Chester to compete against Chester and Indian Land in a team tournament. The Jackets that wrestled did well, but overall fell short in team points to both the Cyclones and Warriors because of the lack of weight class requirements due to sickness.
This Friday and Saturday, the Jacket wrestlers travel to Lugoff to compete in a 2 day individual tournament. We want to wish them the best of luck this weekend!
Congratulations to the following football players:
Kaden Sapp - All-State
Jamari Hough - Honorable Mention

Last Friday, the Buford Rifle Team traveled to Hickory, N.C. for the Best of the Best match. Although they didn’t bring any trophies home, they set a new record for our school at the Best of the Best, scoring an impressive 1988 points and finishing 6th overall out of 20 teams.
Anthony Outen finished 1st within the team with a personal record of 514
Adriel Garcia earned a personal record of 510
Raine Chamness earned a personal record of 490
Madison Drake earned a score of 474
Makel Frisbee Jones earned a personal record of 471
Senior Army Instructor and Rifle Team coach Major Scott Cato felt this was a great way to end the season. “Like with anything, you go into the match a little nervous, not knowing what to expect from any of your team members. But, you hope for the best. What I told the team is it doesn’t matter what they shoot, what matters is each and every one of them earned a right to be there and that in itself is an accomplishment that they need to be proud of. So don’t focus on what you shoot or how you’re shooting, go out there and enjoy the moment, be proud that you were one of the few that made it to the brigade’s best of the best. And with that attitude, they went in there, and to our surprise, they did really well. I’m thankful that the little talk prior to the match got them calm and relaxed, and it allowed them to do their very best. I was extremely proud of what they did and what they accomplished. And as always, Go Jackets!”
Congratulations to Maj. Cato and the Rifle Team for setting a new record at our school, keep up the good work!

The student section was filled with neon colored shirts to match the week's theme, parents of players watching intently, and those working concessions trying to catch glimpses of the game. Players were pushing through to the last second of the fourth quarter; coaches were trying to get the team to keep their fire, and those in the press box watching on the edge of their seats, all under those Friday night lights.
