 Lincoln City is nestled on the heart of the Oregon coast at the northern end of Lincoln County. The gorgeous ocean beaches and tall greenery of pines make it a high attraction for tourism.  Regardless of its beauty, this community still has many challenges to overcome.

Lincoln City Swim Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides the youth of Lincoln City and its surrounding communities learn to swim and competition swimming opportunities. The organization is operated mainly on volunteer hours and funded through donations, grants, and fundraising. Without the support of donations and volunteers, swimming in Lincoln City would not be a possibility to our youth.

 So, let's talk about some numbers!

• Oregon is ranked the 6th highest state for chronically homeless individuals. (1) 

• 17.3% of Lincoln County's Population has severe housing problems. (1) 

• 42.4% of Lincoln County's households are single parent households. (5)

• 17.9% of Lincoln City's households have children. (7)

• The average income per capita in Lincoln City is $38,282. (6)

• Roughly 15% of Lincoln County lives below the poverty level, which is above the national average of 12.5%. (1) 

• Nearly 1/4 of Lincoln County's children live in poverty, 22.1%. (1)

• 16% of Lincoln City's population is persons 19 and under. (6)

16.5% of Lincoln City's youth (18 and under) live at or below the level of poverty. (2)

The youth of Lincoln City are, of thier own demographic group of persons under 18 years of age, the smallest age group minority in this community. More programs and activities that are provided here are aimed at older generations.

The Lincoln City Swim Club is dedicated to promoting equality by providing the youth of our community an activity that provides positive growth for years to come!

When a community's youth participates in sports the benefits go beyond the individual; The benefits spill over into the economic and social future of the communities those athletes reside in. According to the Department of Health and Human services, youth in sports can help bridge social gaps, create equality across demographics, help with mental and physical health, improve academic test scores, and lower the risk of dropout. (3) Project Play from the Aspen Institute states that children who play sports end up with a better quality of life as an adult. These benefits include 15% more likely to attend college, 7% to 8% higher wage earnings, higher self esteem, lower risk of depression, and lower health care costs. Parents who are active pass down these benefits to their children, as active adults usually have kids that are active. (4) 

Your donation goes a long way and reaches the youth of many small communities here on the Oregon Coast. Lincoln City Swim Club serves the youth of not just Lincoln City but also its surrounding areas: Depoe Bay, Lincoln Beach, Gleneden Beach, Kernville, Neotsu, Otis, Roselodge, Neskowin, Siletz, and Pacific City.

These competition swim meets are sanctioned through USA Swimming, so each time placed by the swimmers at the meet is officially recorded. These times can be used to qualify for larger USA Swimming swim meets such as Regionals, Nationals, and even the Olympics. Swimmers from ages 4-18 from teams all over Oregon come to participate in our coastal swim meets. Families and friends follow the swim teams to support and cheer for their favorite swimmer(s). Most of the families, coaches, and officials that attend, usually stay the weekend as both our annual meets are at least a 2 day event. The advertisements on our swim meet programs are often used to explore our local entertainment and food accomodations for the weekend. Many of our local companies like to advertise in these meet programs and offer coupons or discounts to our attendees.

If you are a local hotel and would like to offer discounts to our guests prior to the event, we can contact the teams on your behalf to inform them of your discounts!  A notification can be sent out with our Swim Meet Invitations to our invited teams long before the meet, to ensure families ample time to plan accordingly and use your discount for thier stay!

Lincoln City Swim Club participates in the BottleDrop Give program. Through this program, non-profits organizations are able to turn in cans in blue bags at no cost! The funds from collecting cans has supported our organization in tremendous ways. Your can donations assist in paying for operation costs, which in turn keeps our dues affordable. We accept cans from anyone, including local businesses. We will arrange for pickup as well!
