During the inaugural year, Fletcher made the decision to run from the beginning of the school day until the end, resulting in a total of 35 miles and raising enough money to award two scholarships through the generosity of local businesses that sponsored the run.
The students and teachers came throughout the day to support her. They brought signs of encouragement, they incorporated the event into lessons for the day, the band coming down to play for her, the Culinary Arts program creating personalized nutrition bars.
Finally, the entire school went down to the LCHS stadium to cheer on K. Fletcher as she ran her final lap around the Jerry Cutright Track. She finished strong and left the teachers who tried to keep up with her in the dust!
In order to spend the day running, Mrs. Fletcher needs to consume a massive number of calories. With the help of the Culinary Arts students, the Fletcher Bar was born.
It is very similar to a protein bar, but contains all natural ingredients. The students proudly make the Fletcher Bars every year and Mrs. Fletcher is so grateful.
