Self-awareness is the ability to understand one's own emotions, thoughts, and values as well as how these shape our behaviors.
Identification of emotions, accuracy of self-perception, recognition of strengths, attainment of self-confidence, and development of self-efficacy.
Thoughts drive feelings and feelings ultimately drive our behaviors. Therefore, if one is to build self-awareness it starts with the recognition of thoughts and feelings. The foundation for developing this recognition is tuning into our attention and concentration. One might imagine an old sage sitting cross-legged in deep thought refining the skills of attention and concentration; however, there are creative and fun ways for us to hone these skills as well. See the groups of students practicing concentration and attention to The Nutcracker's Trepak.
