Kindergarten to Second Grade Lessons:
Lesson 1: Who Am I? Who are You?
Students will explore the topics of Self-Awareness and Social Awareness
as they are given opportunities to lead with their identity and develop a more
positive sense of who they are.
Lesson 2: Celebrating Community
Students will continue to explore the topics of Responsible Decision-Making,
Relationship Skills, and Self-Management as they explore the communities
they are a part of and the responsibilities they hold as community members
Lesson 3: Our Rights, Wants, and Needs
Students will continue to explore the topics of Responsible Decision-Making,
Social Awareness, and Relationship Skills as they learn about the importance
of humans’ rights, needs, and wants.
Lesson 4: Focusing on Me and You
Students will explore the concepts of social awareness and relationship skills by
investigating what it means to be mindful and how the act of being present can help
them better understand their own feelings and the feelings of those around them.
They will practice focusing on others' thoughts and emotions as they put themselves
in other people's shoes.
Lesson 5: Inner Strength
Students will investigate the connection between inner strength and making the
right choice. Explore the concept of responsible decision-making through the
lens of grit—or the disposition to pursue goals with perseverance and strength.
Lesson 6: Becoming My Best Me
Students will continue to explore the concepts of self-awareness and
self-management through the lens of a growth mindset—or the belief that
our skills and abilities can be developed through practice and hard work.
Lesson 7: Act it Out!
Use role-playing with your students to explore self-awareness and
self-management social and emotional skill. Guide your students in creating
a puppet show that star themselves applying these key skills to their lives.
Lesson 8: Time to Create!
Students explore social-awareness and relationship skills through the
emphasis of art. Students will begin by investigating the concept of being
unique and the importance of being different through a variety of
art-based activities.
Lesson 9: Time to Play!
Students explore the social and emotional skill of responsible decision-making
through an emphasis of play. Students will begin by investigating the idea of
choices through a variety of interactive discussions and scenario-based games
Third to Fifth Grade Lessons

emphasis on art. Students will begin by investigating the concept of being
unique and the importance of being different through a variety of art-based
activities.
Lesson 9: Time to Play!
Students explore responsible decision making through an emphasis
on play – ultimately creating elements for a board game based on
decision-making challenges.
