Principles to Actions Book |All math staff + Admin| - The foundational work for Idaho mathematics education. Includes unproductive and productive beliefs, obstacles, and key actions that must be understood, acknowledged, and addressed by all stakeholders and strategies for teachers to engage students in mathematical thinking, reasoning, and sense-making to significantly strengthen teaching and learning.

Five Practices Book Series |K-6, 6-8, 9-12| - provides a model for facilitating discussions in mathematics classrooms based on the thinking of students. The model—anticipating, monitoring, selecting, sequencing, and connecting, gives teachers tools to facilitate rich student-student math discourse. Since good discourse tends to elevate many other areas of math education, this is an especially important tool.

Routines for Reasoning |All math staff + Admin| - Outlines a set of routines you can use right now that are focused on helping students develop their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills. The routines are listed (with slick graphics) on the Fostering Mathematical Practices Webpage.  See also Teaching for Thinking.

Visible Learning (The Hattie Index) |All math staff + Admin| -  Hattie ranked 138 influences that are related to learning outcomes from very positive effects to very negative effects based on thousands of studies and millions of students (that's an insane amount of data). Hattie found that the average effect size of all the interventions he studied was 0.40. He decided to judge the success of influences relative to this ‘hinge point’, in order to find an answer to the question “What works best in education?” The link goes to a website that outlines the effect sizes in different categories. Please use aggregated data responsibly -- ie, this is a suggestion for things to think about working on, not conclusive proof about what works best in education.

NCSM Essential Actions Series  |Admin & Coaches| - Includes four books with "best practices" synthesized in the following areas: Framework for Leadership in Mathematics Education, Instructional Leadership in Mathematics Education, Culturally Relevant Leadership in Mathematics Education, Coaching in Mathematics Education. See also the "Coaching Corner" with many online resources for the key ideas in "Coaching in Mathematics Education."
