FAQ
I didn’t take Theater I in 6th or 9th grade. Can I take it later?
Yes! Theater can be started at any time in middle or high school.
Do I have to try out to be in Theater?
While you do not need to audition to enroll in Theater classes, extra curricular plays, such as musicals, have an audition component. All Theatre classes labeled Productions require an audition process and are not guaranteed to all who sign up.
What supplies do I need to purchase for Theater class?
Students need only grade level supplies for Theatre 1 and Theatre 2. For Theatre Productions, students may need to find costume pieces, makeup, and other items needed for plays and shows. No student will be turned away from Theater for an inability to purchase supplies. Please speak with a director if you have a financial concern.
How much time does Theater take?
Students in Theater will perform in a small number of performances outside of the school day throughout the year and may have occasional rehearsals or practices before or after school.
Can I be in athletics and Fine Arts?
Of course! Let your director or teacher know that you will participate in both activities and they will work with your coach to solve any scheduling conflicts.
Do I have to act on stage?
For Middle School Theater, only students in Theater 2, Theater Productions, and extra-curricular plays and shows will be required to act on stage.
For High School, students will be required to complete acting and performing projects while in class, but have the opportunity to work "behind the scenes" aspects of a production such as lighting, sound, costumes, props, hair and makeup, marketing, and stage management.
