Scheduling Information
Students entering the Dance program for the first time in middle school will enroll in Dance I.
After completing the first year of Dance I, middle school students may take advanced classes such as Dance II-III.
Students entering the Dance program in high school should enroll in Dance I, even if you took Dance I in middle school. The class designations reset to “I” in high school.
After completing the first year, high school students may take more advanced classes such as Dance II-IV.
Four consecutive years of Dance will count towards the Arts and Humanities Endorsement requirement.
Students may earn either a Fine Arts OR Physical Education credit through Dance. Incoming 6th graders can select Dance under either the Fine Arts OR Physical Education section, but not both.

I didn’t take Dance I in 6th or 9th grade. Can I take it later?
Yes! Dance I can be started at any time in middle or high school.
Do I have to try out to be in Dance?
No, all students may sign up for Dance I.
What supplies do I need to purchase for Dance class?
Students in Dance will need a pair of jazz shoes and athletic-style clothes they can move freely in. No student will be turned away from Dance for an inability to purchase supplies. Please speak with the teacher if you have a financial concern.
How much time does Dance take?
Students in Dance will perform in a small number of performances throughout the year and may have occasional rehearsals or practices before or after school.
What if I already have Dance experience?
Great! Email the teacher with that information to determine which class level will suit you the best.
Can I be in athletics and Fine Arts?
Of course! Let your director or teacher know that you will participate in both activities and they will work with your coach to solve any scheduling conflicts.
