June 27 - July 3, 2023

Area 1 sent 17 FBLA members to compete at that National Leadership Conference at Atlanta, Georgia. The group spent time exploring Atlanta, attending workshops, and competing in their event.

Dalek Wyatt from Ropes High School placed 7th in 3D Animation.

Area 1 held out First Annual Area 1 Celebration at Slaton. The night was filled with great celebrations. Many members spent the time playing baseball outside or dancing inside.

Scholarship recipients, Seniors, and National qualifiers were all recognized for their contributions to FBLA.

Many had a great time and we wish to continue this tradition in the upcoming years!

At Galveston, Area 1 had several competitors competing for a spot at the National Leadership Conference. We had a great turn out from our area and left with several national qualifiers. 

This event was a great success for Area 1 and we are all excited for the national qualifiers.

Area 1 met and competed for a spot at State. At this conference we listened to several keynote speakers including, DeeAnn Masters from Alliance, Shaley Sanders from KCBD, and Lucinda Holt from Texas Tech. 

We also welcomed our 2023/2024 Area 1 Officers: Victoria Ochoa (President), Liliana Villegas (Secretary), Jewel Mitchell (Historian), and Natalie Jones (Reporter).

This event was a great success and we are excited for all state qualifers.

In December, Area 1 gathered at the Skate Ranch to enjoy an evening of skating and being with friends. Everyone had a great time and it was definitely a memory worth remembering.

Area 1 FBLA chapters joined together at Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock, TX for our Fall Leadership Workshop. We had approximately 150 members attend the event, with four separate workshops for them to enjoy and learn from. They got to hear from board member Christina Perez about competitions in the spring. They were taught how to dress professionally and interact with our social media accounts by different local and area officers. Finally, everyone had a chance to get to know one another through our icebreakers. We were sure to get members involved in our Area BAND as well. Aside from the workshops, attendees listened to our keynote speaker Michael Postar, owner of Affordable Storage, to learn more about business. Overall, the workshop was a success!

In the afternoon, after our Fall workshop, there was a social held at the Corn Maze. Area 1 gathered at the corn maze at At'l Do Farms in Shallowater, where they explored the maze, rode the hayride, and gathered around the campfire where music was played and hot dogs were eaten.

It was a great social and we are hoping to continue this tradition in the upcoming years.
