Payroll Information

Your salary is deposited directly into your bank account every two weeks, on a Thursday. You will receive a link by e-mail to your web salary statement the Monday prior to the pay date.

There are two pay schedules: one for occasional or short-term employees, aka “wage slip” (most new employees fall into this category), and one for automatically-paid employees, who are regulars (permanent employees) or who have worked sufficiently long to be eligible based on the collective agreements. Automatically-paid employees are paid for the current two-week period, while wage slip employees are paid two weeks behind.

Example pay period:

On the pay of April 23, 2020:

  • a wage slip employee is paid from March 30 to April 10, 2020

  • an automatically-paid employee is paid from April 13 to April 24, 2020

Understanding your pay statements

Below is a graphic indicating what information appears where on your pay statement. If you would like further explanation, please contact your payroll agent and he or she will be happy to assist you.

Records of Employment

Records of Employment are produced by the payroll department and sent directly to Service Canada when there is a resignation, retirement, or an interruption in earnings that simultaneously affects a large group of employees.

If you would like to request a Record of Employment for any other reason, please contact your payroll agent.

If you are instead in need of an attestation of employment or a letter of experience, please consult the HR/Payroll directory (available on the SSO under Human Resources > HR/Payroll Directory) within the section titled Attestation of Employment/Work Experience to find the appropriate contact for your employee group.
