These instructions are for Windows 11.
Click on our start menu and type "printers" in the search box.
Click on "Printers & Scanners"
The Printer and Scanner Settings Page will then come up.
Click on "Add Device"
It will detect some printers on the network, but the best way is to manually add the printer. You will need to wait a little while until a button to "Add a new device manually" appears in the list.
Click on "Add a new device manually"
An add printer window will pop up
Click the button next to "Add a printer using an IP address or hostname"
On the next page you will need to provide the hostname of the printer you want to connect to . You can get this from our Printer info page
For device type, select TCP/IP Device
In the "Hostname or IP address:" field Type in the hostname of the printer and then click next.
The port name is not important and will be filled in automatically.
On the next page you will be asked to choose a print driver
Click on the Windows Update button to get a list of available drivers. This may take a few minutes.
Once your systems downloads the list of drivers you can select the manufacturer and model of your printer. If you don't know the model, look at our Printer info page to get the model of the printer you are trying to connect to.
Select the model. Example: HP
Scroll to select the Printer Model(The list is very long and will take some work to find your specific printer)
Once selected click next
The next page is to chose the name of the printer on your computer. This name can be anything you want, it does not have to be the hostname. Whatever will help you remember which printer this is.
Type in the name in the "Printer name:" field and click next.
The next page will ask you if you want to share this printer with other computers on the network. Do not enable printer sharing as this could be a security issue if not configured properly.
Select "Do not share this printer" and click next.
On the next page you will have the option to make the printer your default printer and print a test page if you would like to test the printer.
If you want this printer to be your primary printer then select box next to "Set as the default printer"
The new printer will now show in the list of printers on the Printer and Scanners settings page. The printer should now show as an option when printing on your computer.
