Long Beach High School will begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year this December. As students transition from eighth to ninth grade, our goal is to ensure families feel informed and supported throughout the course selection process. Thoughtful planning—balancing required courses with electives that reflect each student’s interests, strengths, and goals—helps set the foundation for a meaningful start to high school.
Counselor Programming Presentations:
Mr. Bajit will meet with students during their Social Studies classes to review required ninth-grade coursework and the many elective opportunities available. Students will receive Course Selection Worksheets and complete their Individual Annual Progress Review Form in SchooLinks to begin identifying areas of interest.
Individual Programming Meetings:
Throughout December and January, students will meet individually with Mr. Bajit to build a balanced schedule that meets state requirements and encourages exploration. After each meeting, families will receive a Course Selection Contract via email. A mailed confirmation will follow in early March. Please reach out to Mr. Bajit with any questions.
Partnering With Families
We encourage families to review the 2026–2027 Course Selection Handbook together and discuss how required courses and electives can work in harmony to create an engaging first year at LBHS. These conversations play a key role in helping students confidently shape their high school pathway.
For questions at any point in the process, please contact your child’s counselor at 897-2167. We look forward to supporting your child as they begin their LBHS journey.
