National Honor Society

National Honor Society (NHS) membership has been the true mark of student achievement for over 100 years, but it goes far beyond a report card. By empowering, championing, and recognizing well-rounded students, NHS provides schools with a values-based framework to elevate a culture of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. How to become an NHS member:

  • Eligibility is determined by a cumulative grade point average which must meet or exceed the chapter's standard for scholarship (currently set at 3.75 on an unweighted 4.0 scale after three or more semesters of high school.

  • Eligible students will be invited to complete a Candidate Application Form and turn it in by the deadline specified in their invitation letter.

  • After submitting the Candidate form, applicants' forms will be evaluated by a faculty council who will choose candidates to become members based on scholarship (which is established through GPA requirement) along with the standards of Leadership, Service, and Character.

  • Once chosen, selected NHS members will be inducted in a ceremony held each spring.

  • Please direct any questions to Ms. Smithmier, NHS advisor.

NHS membership is not solely based on GPA, but requires all four tenets of the organization to be met by each candidate for induction before membership is granted. Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
