Since 2004, the sidewalk area of this zone has been reconstructed to accommodate the bike path from Burlington into Winooski. The region is similar to 2004 in terms of vegetation, though there are several young trees on the new strip between the road and the sidewalk. Like the 2004 photo, the area is significantly more developed than it was in around 1935. Unlike the barren and eroding slope on the right side of the 1935 photograph, the drop-off on the right of this photo is forested and less visible.
The nature of this image made it quite difficult to determine its location. According to the 1972 photo's description, the region is a "slide area" and water is visible in the bottom right of the photo, so I found one of the only accessible spots along the road by the river. I'm not quite sure the location is correct, as the photographer from 1972 must have been able to make it further out into the water for their shot. The stratified rocks look similar but not identical, which leads me to believe that I was along the same elevation stretch, but perhaps further one direction or another along the river from the spot that original photo was taken.
