The Early College Scholars program is a partnership between Lawrence High School and Northern Essex Community College (NECC), through which Early College students are able to take a full schedule of college course work immediately following their senior year of high school.
This is a year-long program at no cost to students or families. The intent behind the Early College Scholar year is to act as a bridge between High School and College, supporting the EC student transition and ultimately setting them up for success. The student experience is meant to be a blended High School/Early College experience to a full-time college course schedule requiring more agency, independence, and advocacy.
Starting with the Early College Class of 2021, EC students will take a minimum of four classes in the Fall and four in the Spring semester at NECC.
Students will be eligible to take summer and winter courses in addition to completing a full-time course load of classes in the Fall and Spring semesters.
Students will receive a combination of LHS tailored support and NECC support provided to all NECC students.
Upon completion of the Early College Scholar year, enrolled EC students will have completed significant college credits, with the opportunity to earn their Associate’s degree or with a significant number of credits toward their Bachelor’s degree.
